Canterbury Earthquake

yesterday Kowhai syndicate did some baking for Burnham school in Christchurch.Room 6 made date scones and pictures and letters. These were collected by a courier and flown to south free of charge.Other syndicates did some things and we ended up sending 3 care packages away.It was a nice feeling giving to those who need.

Our cooking unit

is going well and we have made hot chocolate and pizza in the last few weeks. We have also made placemats and a sign for our cafe.We had a vote and Annabell's cafe name got the most votes. Therefore we named our cafe "The crunchy muchy cafe".
We have been doing lots of procedural writing and hopefully the children are sharing some procedures with you at home.

Kath Bee

we have been really busy in room 6 - last week a visiting performer came to se us.Her name is Kath Bee and she played us lots of songs and chose people from the audience to help her.We already know some of her songs - Dad I want to be a camel and Individuality

We cooked today

why you say??????Look at all the learning - we had to triple the recipe - we used our 3 times tables for that!!!
Then we wrote our instructions on how to make it.....
Eating it produced a lot of oral language discussing it .....
Then Adi made us run it of by going for a run 3 x around the school.............

Fudgy Photos expertly taken by Olivia

We finally got the vegetable soup made and consumed and the majority thought it was a hit.

Was lovely to catch up with parents at the interviews on Tuesday night and looking forward to more of the same this week.

Hoping Rylee is having fun in the sun :)

Busy week two

We have had such a busy week - the food technology unit is great. We have been apple peeling and coring and today we made spaghetti and meatballs as that was out poem for the week.

We also had birthday cakes from Annabell and Isabella.

Luckily today we did one hours worth of P.E. in the hall with room 7 and burned off a bit of it.

One reading group made clay faces - we couldn't eat those tho.....

Shape shifters

Here we are doing Geometry - we are shorting shapes into groups - we had to work out what kind of groupings we could have. Some of us went for colour, some for 3 sides and 4 sides. Some of us were so clever we used a Venn diagram to show similarities too!!!!Wow - talk about cross-curricular whizzes!!!

Our special visitor Luca

Thanks to Joe's mum for bringing in 9 week old Luca to see us :)

Richie the Greedy Mouse

"More food" Richie cried
and twitching his nose
he thought he smelt...
sausages sitting in rows.

"Sausages,sausages oh what  a treat!
Sausages,sausages so good to eat!"

Ricie was hungry.
Richie was famished.
He ate and he ate
and the sausages vanished.
