Island Bay Trip
Wow! What an awesome day we had today at Island Bay. We were so lucky to have such lovely weather. A special THANK YOU to all the parents who came and helped us out. It was really appreciated and hope you enjoyed it as much as what all the children did. We got to see and touch some really cool sea creatures. There was so much excitement. I loved watching the turtles getting fed and took a short video to share with you all. There will be more photos to come...

Rocky Shore
Unfortunately we weren't able to go in our allocated slot today - it absolutely teemed down at 11.......we will defer it until next week though.
Some reading groups have read food related stories this week and we have been luck enough to have parents help with making popcorn, pizza and potato rounds.
A very big thanks to Carla,Miranda,Alison and Lisa for giving of their time to help us.
Tomorrow is whole school assembly and Pirate Day - so hoping you all can dig out your pirate suits and see you on the poop deck for lunch.
Remember Monday is our visit to Island Bay Marine Centre - we are all very excited.

Short but busy week ahead
We have our Rocky Shore trip on Thursday when we will go and observe what happens in our marine community. On Friday there will be a full school assembly where we will sing 'Love of the common people' that we now know pretty well.Friday is also Pirate Day where we welcome kowhai pirates to dress up for the day.....this will be celebrated with a lunch together on the poop deck ( aka deck outside rooms 7 and 8).
Also we are always on the look out for parents and grandparents to listen to our wonderful readers and perhaps help out with a reading activity e.g. - make something ,cook something. So if you have even 30 mins free one day we would love to see you - have a chat to Sandra and I if you can help out...
Hoping you have had a relaxing long weekend and look forward to see you this week :)

Cross Country
well we finally got the rain to stop and held the cross country this morning. We had been training so hard and that was evident in our results. Well done to you all for running your races so wonderfully.A special mention to Zander who won the boys year 2 event - such determination!!!!And to Joe for getting 4th and Reuben 5th and also to Annabell for getting 5th in the year 2 girls event.
Thank you to the parents who were able to come and support us...and if not there will be photos coming.
We have now started our gymnastics unit so all that fitness is coming in handy.
